djs all over are sick and tired of being sick and tired,

we just want to spin tunes and get the music out.
the drugs, inflated egos and groupies are secondary.

...but there are less and less places and times to do it.
(thanks clear channel and fox news for destroying underground dj culture, and thanks mainstream for blowing up djs so much that everyone is sick of us)

shit, i'm gone back to playing guitar and trying to fuse a band together.

People just don't give a shit about djs anymore, even the ones who produce their own tunes. It's sad really. Because if ignored long enough the art will be lost. Like fuckin ninjas

also, the music coming out these days sucks compared to 10 years ago.

Yes, we are being dummed down, just like "the man" wants us to be.

I figure it's a refelction of the state of the universe etc.

if the worls wants crap , it gets crap

the universe isn't ready for freaky music and djs to play it.

but I haven't totally given up=)

Being Jaded

I was DJing in California for many years, just having a good time, watching the rave scene get real big. Then it became a bit fashionable and Electronica hit the mainstream and there was no way to make any money as a DJ unless you sold your soul to the local drug dealers and club owners... So I left the country and moved to Portugal, where I made shit loads of cash at the expense of selling my soul to local drug dealers and club owners. Was fun to play with guys like Richie Hawtin, but the stress of spending 2 months trying to hunt down your cash became too much... So, after nearly 12 years of playing records and making people dance, I am feeling damn jaded. The "Its just about the music" bullshit seemed to die off years ago and now "Its just about the fashion/trends/drugs".

Maybe it was just about the fashion/trends/drugs back in the early days too, but I wasn't jaded and it all seemed so perfect. Perhaps my only regret after all these years was trying too hard to "Make it" as a DJ and not sticking to the "just have fun" principles.
